This is something I have never shared on this blog…not sure why cause it’s one of my favorite songs!

I turned on my keyboard found this beautiful, echoey sound and wrote this in about 2 hours! Hope you all love it as much as I do…

Just got back from California, oh what a little sunshine can do!!

It’s 3 different ideas that will hopefully become a song.

A Song Writing experiment with Andy Othling

Snapshot 1 of piano videoAndy Othling is an amazing artist who started following my music and I in turn started following him! Last week he decided to loop a few guitar chords and posted it on his blog for anyone else to try and layer their ideas over-top of his. He’s going to pick a few of his favourite entries and feature them on his blog.

I knew at once I was going to try and do this as I’ve always imagined some of his sounds with my piano…  But this certainly challenged me as I’ve never recorded with my mics before nor have I tried to use a software program to layer my part over another.  This took me a week and a half but I did it! So proud of myself, it’s not perfect by any means but maybe this is the push I needed to experiment with some recording tools…

Check out Andy’s music and blog!

A little Piano Improv…

Posted: May 19, 2015 in Uncategorized

A long time since I’ve posted again…exciting things are happening for my music!

Of course once again I’ve had to delay them just a little as is the life of being a motocross mom and an artist…                          I’ve been working on some big projects musically and I am hoping to announce the release date by mid-summer.  I have a few new songs that I would love to share but I am keeping them secret…for now here’s a video of me improvising on the piano.  These last couple of weeks have been really hard as a parent as my heart is breaking for my son who is going through some hard times with his motocross.  I truly believe everything happens for a reason and I told him this is just one little bump in the road and will make him stronger because of it!

So this piano improv. is what I do when I need to just let go and be sad or whatever needs to come out..

“Love’s Turmoil” is my journey over the past couple of months…I’ve been feeling suffocated by life, by the stresses of being a mom, by the responsibilities of teaching 17 students, by not having enough time for me and for my music!  I cut myself off from everyone, I joined an amazing yoga studio and started soul searching…”What do I really want? When do I feel most balanced and happy?”

And of course the answer is the same as it’s always been, spending more time with my children and writing and performing my songs!  I thought by teaching more it would give me more money so as I could get to the studio and start recording an album and all it did was leave me with no time to accomplish what I truly wanted.  It took awhile, but I finally made a decision to cut out over half of my students, and wow, did I feel free again!  I was able to finish my song and record it and start relaxing and just enjoying life again!
